Direct Billing

Integrative health services are covered by most extended health insurance plans. Our clinic offers direct billing for many major insurance providers (see FAQ section below for more details). Patients are responsible for the cost of their appointment upfront if their providers cannot be billed directly. The Clara Clinic will provide an invoice and receipt that can be submitted to your insurance provider manually. Note that insurance coverage is for appointment fees but will not extend to product purchases, lab work, or other non-visit services.

Have a question? We have some answers.

What is your process?

Complimentary Consult

We encourage all patients to book a complimentary 15 minute consult with their preferred practitioner. At The Clara Clinic we want to ensure you’re receiving the best care possible, and therefore seeing the right practitioner for you. This is your opportunity to briefly discuss your health concerns, ask questions, and get to know the practitioners better so you can feel confident going forward. It also allows us to determine if we are the best fit to help you. If for some reason we feel we’re not a good fit, we will always provide you with a referral to a more appropriate practitioner. Please note, no treatment is given at this appointment.

Initial Appointment

Upon booking your first appointment you will receive an email containing our initial intake forms, which we ask that you complete and send back to us prior to your appointment, or bring with you. If you have recent test results or blood work it is important to bring a copy with you or email it to the clinic in advance.

The primary focus of your first visit is to gather necessary information for both diagnosis and development of your custom treatment plan. This provides us with a comprehensive picture of your past medical history, your current health concerns, and your future health goals. At the end of the visit, you will receive a customized health care plan to get started on, and have a better idea of future directions and number of visits required.

Follow Up Appointment

Follow-up appointments are often shorter in length, as these are used to provide ongoing treatment, as well as monitor your progress and modify your treatment plan as necessary. Depending on the type of service you’re interested in, the first follow-up visit may be booked anywhere from 1-4 weeks after your initial intake, and subsequent follow-up visits will be booked further apart. As you continue with care, we often do not require follow-ups as frequently and prefer bi-annual check ins.

If you have not been to the clinic in 2 years, we will book you an initial appointment to allow us the time needed to get caught up on how you have been since your last visit, and what has changed that we need to know about.

What do I bring to my first appointment?

We ask that prior to your first appointment, you take the time to complete our initial intake forms. We also ask that any recent blood work, imaging, or testing be sent to us in advance of your visit in order to more efficiently use our time together.

Do you offer virtual care or telemedicine?

Absolutely! Telemedicine and virtual care not only saves you time but enables you to access care from anywhere in Ontario (if you live outside of Ontario we cannot care for you through Telemedicine but are always happy to refer you to someone in your province or state). Our online booking gives you the option of choosing an in-person or virtual appointment, so you can make the choice that’s right for you.

For virtual telemedicine consultations, we use Jane, a secure, Personal Information and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) compliant platform. If you prefer a telephone consultation, be prepared at the contact number you have indicated.

Are your appointment services covered by benefits?

Yes, our appointment services are covered by most extended health care plans. Check with your insurance provider to find out more. We also offer direct billing if you have insurance coverage and are one of the providers available through the system (see the list below). This means we can bill your insurance company directly and you just pay the difference!

How can I refer family and friends?

Many of our patients come through referrals, which we absolutely love. We are passionate about supporting people’s health and would be honoured to help your friends and family as well. You can contact us to find out more.

How do I find you? Where can I park my car?

We’re located at 623 Gerrard Street East, just east of Broadview Avenue on the south side. There are two Green P parking lots, one is east of the clinic at 653 Gerrard St. E., the other is just west of Broadview at 573 Gerrard St. E.

By public transit our clinic can be reached on the 504, 505, 506 streetcars, either directly or from Broadview subway station.

Are you wheelchair accessible?

Absolutely. We’ve gone through great lengths to ensure our space is completely wheelchair accessible for all of our patients.

How early should I arrive for appointments?

Please arrive 5-10 minutes early for your appointments, as we always process payments before you go in for your appointment (this ensures you never get held up after your scheduled time with unexpected issues). If it’s your first visit, please arrive 15 in minutes in advance.

If you are late for your appointment, please call clinic reception. Please note if you are late your scheduled appointment will still end on time and the appointment fee will remain unchanged.

Our Story

The Clara Clinic was born out of a shared desire to provide focused & customized health care for people who want more.

Dr. Hayhlee & Dr. Alessia met while training to become Naturopathic Doctors. Haylee decided to become a Naturopathic Doctor because of her family’s experience with her dad’s cancer diagnosis. Alessia decided to go into naturopathic medicine because of her personal struggle with PCOS. From the very beginning, they both had a very clear focus for the area of medicine they wanted to practice in, and the types of patients they wanted to help.

Through their own personal experiences, they realized how challenging it was to find integrative practitioners that were focused, clearly treating only one type of condition or concern. Most practitioners and clinics provided general health support - not the clear, and focused support they had both previously sought.

In an effort to address these concerns, they decided to create The Clara Clinic. A clinic bringing together a collective of practitioners that have highly specific, clear, and focused areas of practice.

Clara means clear & bright, and the clinic’s ultimate goal is to provide the most focused integrative care possible, with a practitioner who truly understands what you’re going through.

We are here to be your advocates, educators, and most importantly, to support you so that you can make choices for your health you feel good about.
